Brothers gunning for Defence in city rugby
By PETER PUSAL
Port Moresby rugby union enters its fifth round of matches and the story isn’t so rosy for a couple of the competitions Premier grade big guns Defence and University as they look to reignite their faltering seasons.

Defence in particular have had patchy form thus far with a nil-all draw and a solitary win on their ledger after four rounds of rugby.
Late starters they maybe but tomorrow, they face an in-form Brothers who have three wins from as many starts and will be aiming to make an out of sorts Defence victim number four.
The pressure is certainly on the Defence play makers to direct a willing forward pack and hard-nosed backs who will need their wits about them to contain a Brothers line up boasting Pukpuks Aiem Pilakos, Gina Ponda and Douglas Guise. It won’t be an easy feat but like they say in military style training “no pain, no gain”.
It’s time for the men in green to knuckle down and grind out a win – ugly or not.
The other match on Saturday sees University who are on the end of a two-game losing streak up against a newly kitted out Southern Chiefs.
Motivation won’t be a problem for either team.
One has a new set of jerseys to break in and the other has jerseys to play for.
Sunday’s game has Harlequins up against Wanderers in an expected tight encounter.
Both teams haven’t poured on the points in their last several matches so whilst it won’t be a free-scoring match, there will certainly be solid performances.
