MA endorses candidates in ENB

By VERONICA MANUK
THE Leader of the Melanesian Alliance (MA) Party Sir Moi Avei made a quiet visit to East New Britain province to witness the nomination of two of the party’s candidates on Wednesday.
The two nominated candidates were Henry Bobut to contest against Sir Rabbie Namaliu for the Kokopo open seat and Peniel Niligur to contest the Gazelle open seat occupied by Sinai Brown.
Sir Moi said MA was one of the oldest parties that has brought Papua New Guinea to independence and had also given two important things to the country: its constitution and a provincial government system.
However, he said other parties had grown but not MA because it was not practical enough to take its vision to another level.
He said former leaders were not selective to attract more support from private and overseas sectors.
Sir Moi said since he and Dame Carol Kidu took over, they have made changes and one was to involve more young leaders.
He said the party was also looking at endorsing one third of women candidates.
