Actions galore in volleyball games
SPECTATORS will be entertained with
the top-of-the-table clash in the NCDVA women’s premier division,
when Aranamo BBK takes on Magpies at the TLC Volleyball Courts on
Saturday.
Three teams, Aranamo BBK, Magpies and Maybe & Johnson U-MiYet are
sharing the top position with 10 points after four games this
season.
The name Aranamo may sound new but the players that make up the
team are experienced, in Kaini Tau, Clara Kila, Pala Alu, Kalia
Alu, Veiva Vela and Veve Nimo and their team combination is
improving every game as the season is progressing.
Magpies made it to semi finals last season and they are building
up with the same players from where they left. Expected to feature
for Magpies are the Lillie Laho, Helen Laho, Morerhari Laho, Nancy
and Caura. Both sides are equally matched and a tight result is
expected.
Aranamo BBK will face stiffer opposition in Pacific Management
Grass Hoppers in the men’s premier game of the weekend. BBK has
recruited well securing former VAVA’s big names Gerea Kila and the
Karu brothers and are producing the goods early in the season.
PM Hoppers will be relying on their big guns, Titus David, Benny
Ume, Ravu Mahuru and Jeffery Gima who are back from Australia to
deliver, therefore, this match is expected to be a thriller.
Aranamo’s defence must keep a close watch on Hopper’s moneyman -
Ravu. If he is let loose, they will be on the receiving end.
In the other men’s games; PNG Ports should win Peteru, Melonah
Scorpions should overpower Ulamagi and a tight result is expected
between MJ U-Mi Yet and Viriolo.
On the women’s court; PM Grass Hoppers, with all their big hitters
back should have too much power for Viriolo, Melonah Scorpions are
expected to fire, with Mariana Haoda back against another informed
side, PNG Ports and Maybe and Johnson U-MiYet should have too much
class over Peteru.
