Upgrade departure lounges first at Jackson Airport
I REFER to the report that airports in the New Guinea Islands need to improve their current conditions in order to cater for Air Niugini’s bigger aircraft (May 8).
Before we do that, I urge Air Niugini and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to do something about the departure lounges of both the domestic and international at Jackson Airport first.
The stench that comes out of these facilities is almost unbearable.
Layers sweat and grime over the years have been lodged within the fabric material of the seats and carpets and they are now giving off a foul stench.
For goodness sake, we have tourists and visitors that use these facilities everyday and is this how we want to portray PNG?
Air Niugini Airport security manager Jack Pidik and Service Delivery general manager Rakum Peni should be seriously looking into this issue first.
