Local processing will boost Gulf economy: Farapo

AN independent candidate for the Kerema open seat strongly believes that downstream processing of resources within the province will change the face of Kerema district and Gulf province for the better and improve the standard of living of the people.
Candidate Harold Farapo recently told the people of Karama, Moveave and Iokea villages where 15,000 live to picture in their minds the state of affairs in the province when casting their votes.
“You should vote for change in our area,” Mr Farapo told them.
“I know my people deserve better … the people of Kerema district have been denied basic Government services ever since and they need to find remedies that would allow them to fully participate in nation building,” he said.
Mr Farapo, the youngest candidate in the Kerema open race, is a former political aide to opposition leader Peter O’Neill.
He also served former prime minister Sir Julius Chan former deputy prime minister Chris Haiveta and Michael Nali.
Mr Farapo is the eldest son of former ambassador Tony Farapo, a pioneer diplomat and former Gulf regional MP and minister for provincial Affairs from 1982 to 1987.
