Arrest warrant issued for couple

By PETER MIVA
THE Lae District Court has issued a warrant of arrest for a couple for absconding their bail conditions after they failed to appear in court yesterday for a committal hearing on sex charges.
Committal magistrate Posain Poloh issued the warrant for the arrest of Igo Heagi, 43, from Porebada village, Central province, and Lilly Kiap, 35, from Munumba village, Western Highlands province.
Mr Poloh ordered that their bail of K100 each be forfeited and police arrest them and keep them in custody to await their next committal appearance on June 27.
Heagi is charged with allegedly having sex with his 15-year-old step-daughter on Jan 2. His wife Lilly is charged with procuring sex for her husband with her daughter.
Police said that while awaiting their court appearance, the man allegedly raped the girl twice on April 23 in their home, apparently with the full knowledge of the mother.
Both were granted K100 bail each and ordered to appear for their committal hearing yesterday but they failed to turn up.
