Able and willing sponsor

By DAVID KAPI
Able Computing has committed 25% of every personal computers sold to help fund the PNG team to the Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa, in August.
Sales manager Maria Bautista said that the mechanics of sponsorship initiative was developed by the company to give something back to the community and is also strongly supported by Brisbane-based owners Andrew and Marijun Locke, who themselves have represented PNG in the then South Pacific Games in the 1990s.
Ms Bautista said that so far they have sold about 300 computers and that by end of July it was possible to raise more than K25,0000 to support the contingent.
She also took the opportunity to thank major clients such as Air Nigini, Telikom, Department of Education, Pacific Adventist University, and UPNG for their support to realise the vision in supporting the athletes. At the same time she appealed to the corporate entities, government departments and the general public to buy computers at Able Computing top help fund the cause.
The 2007 Pacific Games team manager Numa Alu said that it was a great support by the company as PNG was aiming to take its biggest contingent ever to the games in August.
"Thank you Able Computing for your contribution and hope we win more medals than we did in the past games," Alu said.
The collected amount will be presented in July before the PNG teams departs for Samoa.
