Team Morobe has six set for Games

SIX sporting codes are preparing to select its players to represent Team Morobe for the upcoming PNG Games to be held in Lae on November 14-22 this year.
Team Morobe had appointed its management and technical team to manage the 16 different sporting codes to represent Morobe at the coming PNG Games.
The six sports that have organised themselves are netball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, darts and athletics and they have appointed their respective coordinators to organise tournaments to select the best side to represent Morobe.
However, other 11 sports such as touch, rugby 7s and 9s, league 9s, weightlifting, power lifting, boxing and softball have yet to get themselves organised and appoint their respective coordinators to organise their tournaments.
Morobe Country Netball event coordinator and assistant technical coordinator John Peka said netball will be holding their provincial championships at Situm station outside Lae from June 7-10 to select the best side to represent Morobe.
Seven teams that have confirmed their participants are PNG Power, Butibam, Kaiapit, Mare, Situm, Munum and Nadzab and around Morobe will be represented at the four-day championship.
"We will have Masters, Under 12, 13, 14, 15, 21 girls and senior women participating in the championships and we have finalized all the logistical arrangements such as accommodation, transportation and security and the venues to hold the games," Peka said.

Meanwhile, Morobe administrator Manasupe Zurenuoc handover over K150,000 in Lae last week to the host organising committee headed by chairman Joseph Bau Maras to start preparing to host the best PNG Games in Lae in November.
Team Morobe will receive its K150,000 from the Morobe provincial government to start preparing its 17 sporting teams to represent Morobe on June 8.
