For union glory

The Goroka Rugby Union has named two equally matched teams, the Whites and the Reds, to vie for the prestige’s Goroka Kilituas jersey at the National Sports Institute oval, this Saturday.
According to Velda Feka, a senior official within the GRU administration, the selection trial would showcase some of the best players in the competition.
She said these players had shown commitment in the last four rounds of the competition.
She said after the game the Goroka Kilituas side would be named to take on the other Highlands regional teams in the PJV Cup tournament to be held early next month in Goroka.
She said this weekend there would be high quality rugby showcased by the young talents but only the outstanding players would be selected for the 24 member Kilituas side.
The Reds team starting from the forwards are: Bogo Accanufa, Dr Alex Mel, Martin Mathews, Douglas Siove, Willie Kume, Limu Willie, Morai Pinai, Yaisuo Giheno and the backs Rupert Tete, Batas Lucas, Danny Saho, Kevin Tom, Fred Tom, Danny Patrick, Richard Nake with Morris Andi, Raymond Tewi, Liviko Sabumei, Ojay Bebe, Kevin Keru, Dikas Suto, Malcom Pinai, Valentine Siba and Joshua Agunam on the bench. They would be coached by John Hou.
And the Whites team: Brian Teine, Umba Ben, Fate Kennedy, Ajay Sabumei, Shedric Wally, Jeremy Gasowo, Pokel Kuso, Saul Vilabart form the strong forward pack with the backs consisting of Philip Maino, Eric Tili, Richard Mark, Eka Patrick, Ian Robin, Kenneth David, Desmond Tete with Benny Mitio, Dr Tira Ira, Francis Martin, Lindon Giheno, Vagi Hanenou, Sammy Patrick, Jobby Bal, Jackson Dori and Dudikoff Fova. They would be coached by Mr Isaac Illailo.
Meanwhile the round five of the Goroka Rugby Union Competition would start right after the trials.
