Sports Administrators trained
Port Moresby Soccer Association is
currently holding a sports administration training workshop
under its annual training programme.
The moral-boosting initiative is the brainchild of the Port
Moresby Soccer Association to beef-up individual club management
in the city by training club administrators, among many others,
in order for them to improve the standard of the associations in
all aspects of management.
Port Moresby soccer boss Fabian Chow said that his aim was to
see the individual clubs affiliated to the association and also
step up their club management in order to improve the standard
of the associations for the good of the code.
Chow said that Port Moresby Soccer Association under current
budget has also made available funds to ensure this programme
gets off the ground and the clubs affiliated to the association
benefit from the initiative, including the technical development
in the areas of coaching, refereeing, and First Aid which will
follow right after the administration training programme is
completed.
“Our association, being one of the largest and professionally
run by a fulltime secretary general, we want to set precedent so
that other associations will follow suite and eventually raise
standard of soccer in the country,” said Chow.
A total of 20 participants are undertaking four day courses at
the Sir John Guise Sports Complex under the supervision of
Sports Foundation’s Scott Vavine. It started on Monday and will
end today.
