The Port Moresby rugby league has selected a 22-man squad to represent Port Moresby against Rigo West in a Southern Zone selection trial match at the Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby on Sunday.
The match will be a curtain-raiser to the round eight SP Cup local derby between the Brian Bell Bulldogs and the Wari Vele Raiders.
Euro Builders Magani and Bishop Brothers Hawks dominate the squad supplying three players each.
The squad: Boge Dikana, Doura Lohia, Peter Moide (Hawks), Oala Frank, Mea Miria, Dickson Wallen (Magani), Barry Pekaea, James Kingal (West), Mathias Emiabo, David Puguma (Tarangau), Solom Kumbokum (Defense), Momoa Nuana, Sine Kuman (Dobo), Tony Bare, Jeffery Elisah (Souths), Brian Roberts, Bobby Mori (Brothers), John Gende (Royals), Joseph Wama (Butterflies), Henly Faita (Kone), Douglas Kaman (Puma) and Jeffery Tande (Waliya). Jonathan Ninkama (coach), Tim Vihere (Trainer), Sebi Kume (manager) and Dr James Naipao (team doctor).
The Rigo West team will be made up of players from the Rigo Central Rugby League competition.
From the trial match a team will be selected for the national zone trials in Lae on June 8-10.
Meanwhile, in the domestic competition Hawks has to beat Post Puma on Saturday to maintain their lead with three teams only a point behind on the points table.
Brothers, Dobo and Magani are all tied on 23 points.
If the tenth placed Puma upsets Hawks, any of those three teams can take the lead with a win.
Dobo finally had a win last week following a loss and a draw and will need to lift their games against a Souths outfit that have won two of three last three matches and occupy sixth spot.
Brothers have won all of their last three matches and will face Kone Tigers who have not had much luck in the past two weeks.
Meanwhile, Magani will need to improve on the consecutive narrow victories if they are to prevail over a rejuvenated Paga side.
In the other matches, Royals will take on West, Tarangau against Defence while the Butterflies will do battle with Waliya.
