Country needs hard-working action man: Chan

FOUNDER and leader of People’s Progress Party Sir Julius Chan said the country needs an action man who will roll up his sleeves and work hard.
Sir Julius said there was too much lip service in the Government and that it was time to change leaders and move on.
“We are now run down by the national courts - not the cabinet - all decisions are neither respected nor implemented because there is a lack of decisive leadership and the people and businesses are suffering,” Sir Julius said.
He outlined PPP’s platform that included:
*Reintroduction of free education for elementary up to Grade 8;
*Restoration of run down infrastructure including roads, bridges, airstrips, schools and government outstation, including electricity and water supply to rural outstation;
*Implement bottom-up planning and setting village priorities; and
*Social benefits for “old age” people not catered for by the National Government especially women and the disabled.
Sir Julius said the PPP was a decisive party with over 35 years experience and with many projects in districts all over Papua New Guinea.
He said PPP had launched 10 major projects – Lihir, Malalaua road project, Poreporena freeway, Tokua and Gurney airports among others.
Sir Julius was speaking at his recent campaign visits to Milne Bay and Oro provinces.
He is currently campaigning in the Morobe province.
