By HENRY MORABANG
A resource landowner company, Petroleum Resources Kutubu (PRK) has come to the aid of the sponsorship-starved Mungkas Soccer Club of Port Moresby.
Despite no representative was there to present the uniforms last Friday, coach Channel Kakahe and his assistant Russel Tsuga were all excited about their uniform.
Kakahe who is also the president thanked PRK chairman John Kapi Natto for supporting the club during the tough economic time.
He said the sponsorship covers the three sets of uniform, 30 bottles, 30 beeps plus the goalkeeper equipments which total over K5,000.
Kakahe said part of the money covers the affiliation and registration of players to the Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA).
He said the sponsorship come at the time when the club really needed it.
Tsuga who is no stranger to soccer, and former international soccer referee reiterated and thanked PRK for their timely sponsorship.
He extended the club’s sincere thank you to MRDC and all the landowner groups that form PRK for their generous sponsorship.
Kakahe said though the club is from Bougainville, it has players from all over the country especially in the women’s division.
Some of the big names that are currently playing for the club include former PNG captain and University strongman Joseph Aisa, Kaluwin Kora, Rodney Pulu, Joe Kakahe and Noel Hakora while the bulk of the team are mainly unemployed youths.
