Giants ‘killer’ ready to defend volleyball title

AIPEANA Volleyball Association will host the Mekeo Volleyball Championship at Aipeana village in Central province from June 14 to 18.
Aipeana Giants were king of volleyball in the Mekeo area after winning a major title at Oriropettana village.
The Giants collected the Cup and the K1,000 prize-money.
The captains Victor Kuekue said his players will be out to prove their worth as the champion.
They have players such as Allan Tai, Jimmy Kesa, Alu Opu, Simon Ae, Georgy EK and Loui Kavo,
Coach Victor Aiso said his boys have been training very hard for the coming championships. He said his boys have the height and are looking forward for the Aiepana Championship and also the National Championship to be stage in Port Moresby in September.
Tournament director John Imamaeva has said everything is okay for the big game.
He thanked paramount chief Benedict for allowing the play ground for the championship in the village.
He also thanked major sponsor Charlie Ima for the prize money K1,000 for the men and K500 for the women.
The tournament director said the registration fee is K160 for men and K100 for women’s team. Those wishing to make payment can contact Cee Orewa Trade Store in Aipeana village to make payments.
