BSP launches first ATM in Maprik

BANK South Pacific has launched its first ATM (automatic teller machine) in Maprik, East Sepik province.
The machine was the first ever to be installed in the area.
Stanley Bole, BSP branch manager in Maprik, said at the launch that BSP would strive to become the dominant bank in the country.
Mr Bole said the ATM would not only reduce the usual long queue at the bank but would also serve customers in central Sepik and neighbouring Nuku and Lumi in Sandaun province.
Maprik businessmen association chairman Yalui Nongi said it was an exciting time for the indigenous business houses in the district as they will now be enjoying the luxury of ATM enjoyed by other centres.
Mr Nongi thanked the BSP management for bringing its services to their doorsteps as the facility would spur business in the area.
Maprik district administrator Simon Failou, who was the first to use the ATM, urged everyone to look after the property as it will speed up time in withdrawing cash.
The ATM will operate seven days a week from 6am to 7pm.
