THURSDAY – and it seems some have been taking the advent of that
thunderous god Thor’s day too seriously.

THE latest chatter from Phoenix town, aka Rabaul: A teacher was
physically targeted by irate parents while taking a class at Malaguna
primary school. Come on parents … no matter what the cause was, classroom
punch-ups are a definite no-no and markedly uncool. Malaguna is one of
the country’s oldest and most respected primary schools.

THEN there was the full scale riots associated with Nawaeb high school in
the Morobe province. Reports so far suggest that the villagers living
close to the school may well have suffered at the hands of senior

parade starting this Saturday won’t be just a PR job but will have more
far-reaching effects.

WHY is Dr Sylvester Kotapu’s report alleging mine-initiated pollution in
the Angabanga and Auga Rivers steeped in such mystery? Why have leaders
yet to sight a copy? Can we avoid any more cloak and dagger stuff
reminiscent of Cold Comfort Farm’s Aunt Ada Doom, who “saw something
nasty in the woodshed” – but never revealed precisely what?
