OC efforts welcome

I WOULD like to commend the efforts of Chief Ombudsman Ila Geno and Ombudsman John Nero to recoup the K90 million that has gone missing from the K200 million earmarked for the districts and electorate throughout the country.
The law is simple, follow the procedure of the Public Finance Management Act.
MPs cannot continue to cheat the people and use other insidious means to benefit themselves.
Laws are meant to be followed to avoid being implicated and finally prosecuted.
The people who voted for the Bill are, unfortunately, the ones who are not following the law.
No wonder many find themselves being referred to leadership tribunal.
On the same note, I would like to commend also the Public Accounts Committee which has made an astounding statement about the huge sum of money that has gone missing from Waigani without proper records.
This would be a mammoth task of the next government to trace and bring to justice those who are responsible.
There are grounds to substantiate our argument that corruption is far from over.
There is no transparency or accountability.
The vast majority of people apparently do not seem to know what is at stake with regard to public money being claimed bogusly.
For those institutions fighting corruption, you are the voices of the majority of our people.
It is my firm standing that some credibility can be restored.
