Public servants told to perform

By ZACHERY PER
PUBLIC servants in Simbu province have been told to perform, especially during this election period.
Provincial administrator Joe Bal issued the ultimatum this week while revealing that the appointment process of four senior managers for the province had been completed.
He was highly critical of the non-performance of district administrators and public servants in the province, especially during this election period.
Mr Bal said any public servant found to be engaged in politics would be dealt with accordingly.
“Public servants are to be reminded that they are getting paid by the Government,” he said.
“They are expected to be impartial and neutral in discharging their duties and responsibilities.”
The six district administrator positions in Simbu are among senior management positions to be announced soon.
Mr Bal said there had been incidents in the past where the absence of district administrators had made their subordinates neglect their duties and responsibilities.
“I want all six district administrators, who would be appointed, to physically live and operate from their district headquarters,” he said.
“I will not hesitate to revoke their appointments if they do not comply with instructions.”
The six Simbu districts are Karamui, Chuave, Kamtai, Kundiawa-Gembogl, Gumine and Kerowagi.
