Highlanders urged to work together

By ANDREW ALPHONSE
ENGA Governor Peter Ipatas has called on Highlanders to work together to form the next government and stop becoming “cargo boys” for Sepiks.
He told a rally in Banz, Western Highlands province, last Friday that the country was going backwards instead of progressing.
“It is time for Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare and his regime to go,” he said.
Mr Ipatas, who has expressed his desire to be the next prime minister, claimed that many of the country’s top public positions were held by Sepiks.
He also described the recent K600 million allocation to East Sepik and Sandaun provinces for development and services as another example of the Government’s unfairness.
He said the region’s people and resources contributed significantly to the nation’s purse but was not getting a fair share of the funds for development and services.
