‘Don’t let us down again’
Chimbu Warriors appeal to supporters to behave

By MUSARIKE ANANGAI
SP Cup franchise Pagini Warriors have appealed to their supporters to behave when they return to Port Moresby this weekend to meet Brian Bell Bulldogs at Lloyd Robson Oval.
Port Moresby will host the round 11s Bulldogs versus Warriors clash at 1pm followed by the Wari Vele Raiders-Besta Eagles match at 3pm on Sunday.
Warriors coach Steven Gore Kaupa said from Kundiawa yesterday that his young charges have trained hard all week and he does not want spectators to spoil what should be a very exciting contest.
“The Port Moresby spectators destroyed us, please don’t do it again to us or any other team. The rules are there for all of us to follow”, he said referring to the disrupted match against the Raiders on May 06.
He said the PNG National Rugby League has taken a tough stand this year against violence and intimidation of any sort and he does not want to see his side dragged through all that again.
The Warriors have been a subject at the PNGNRL’s judiciary two times already this year, one of which resulted in six competition points taken off them.
“We are upset that the PNGNRL stripped six points after we had already apologized and paid the K5, 000 fine, the boys are hurt but we are still a strong team, our spirits are not broken”, Kaupa added.
“Just because we are on one point does not mean we will compromise the two points this week or anytime this year”.
Meanwhile their opponents the Bulldogs have had two narrow wins during the past fortnight but coach Chris Enara believes the closeness of the score lines reflect the improvement in all of the franchise teams.
“A win is a win, every team has improved on their fitness and their game plan. This weekend we are not banking on winning by a big margin we just want to win”, he said.
“Compared to last year we have done well and that comes back to the players’ commitment”.

Bulldogs hooker Benjamin John is out after bruising his shoulder in a club match last week while prop Thomas Ninkama has been down with malaria since returning from Madang.
Kaupa has named Sipil at five-eighth and Siune at prop, two players whom he says are very exciting to watch.
