Respect church’s tenet

I REFER to the headline ‘Vote or worship?’ (The National, June 19).
I am a Sunday worshipper and I feel for our SDA brothers and sisters in the Southern Highlands and Morobe provinces.
I think the Government should respect the days of worship and move the polling dates to Monday, July 2.
Nothing must also be done on Sunday as a sign of respect.
SDA plays a major role in the nation’s development by providing services to remote areas where government services are poor through firms like ADRA and
others.
I urge the provincial governments concerned and the Electoral Commission to seriously look into this issue and do something to allow them to cast their votes.
If nothing is done, we will become hypocrites and laughed at by our Pacific neighbours and the international community, who treat Christianity as their religion.
