Envoy’s wife dies

By CLIFFORD FAIPARIK
THE wife of former Wewak MP and now PNG High Commissioner to New Zealand Sir Bernard Narokobi died last Friday after a long illness, eldest son Vergil Narokobi said yesterday.
Regina Narokobi, from Kuanggen village, Wewak in the East Sepik province, died in the Port Moresby General Hospital in the early hours of last Friday, shortly after arrival from New Zealand.
She was 53.
“She developed stomach pains three weeks ago and was hospitalised in Wellington hospital. We were advised that the situation was not good, so we decided to bring her home.”
He said his mother went into coma about an hour before the plane landed in Port Moresby. She was rushed to the hospital and succumbed in the early hours of Friday.
Her husband and his children accompanied her home from New Zealand.
A funeral service is being planned for Wednesday.
