A salute to Sir Thomas

MY heartfelt condolence and sympathy to the family and friends of the late Sir Thomas Kavali over his untimely death.
He had been one of the very instrumental figures among other Papua New Guineans, who contributed much towards establishing PNG as a sovereign country.
At that time, most Papua New Guineans were still unaware of the outside world and had no idea what Western civilisation was all about.
The remote people of Jimi in the Western Highlands province salute Sir Thomas for setting a legacy no other Jimi had ever achieved.
He was the first Jimi and a Western Highlander to be knighted and he certainly deserved that title for his positive contributions to the development of this country.
His death is a great lost to Jimi and PNG.
