Gulf man found dead at Konedobu

THE body of a young man from Miaru village in the Gulf province was found in a banana garden near the Kone Club in the early hours of last Friday morning.
The man, believed to be in his late 20s, was believed to have been murdered and left naked in the garden.
Relatives living nearby the area identified him
as Seba Auru, who
resides at Gordon with his uncle.
An old woman from Simbu was on her way to the garden that morning when she spotted the body and alerted the police.
First Constable Toua Kukuna, who was at the scene of the alleged murder, said that when they arrived, they did not find any murder weapon near the body.
The only thing they found was an empty Save Card holder, which was taken by police for forensic tests.
“From my observation, I believe he was struggling to fight off his attacker(s) and had his neck snapped in the process,” Mr Kukuna said.
Police believed the murder could have taken place the previous night as the body was very cold.
It had scratches on the neck, blood clot in the left ear and was lying on the right side of the face with the left leg over the right leg.
The cause of death would be determined once police CID and forensic officers complete their investigations.
Until now, no eyewitnesses have come forward with any information as to how the incident happened.
