Molou: Africans must go

By HENLY TAKA
THREE foreigners currently in detention in Vanimo will be sent to Port Moresby since it is taking too long for the Foreign Affairs Department to act on their case, Sandaun police chief has warned.
Provincial police commander Richard Molou said the three had been held in detention at the request of the department but almost a month has gone by without any action being taken.
Mr Molou said he now had the general election to take care of and he was seriously considering putting the three on a flight to Port Moresby so their presence in Port Moresby will prompt the department officials to act swiftly.
He said the three, who claim to be from Nigeria, had with them enough money in US dollars so putting them on a flight to Port Moresby would not be a problem.
Mr Molou said the trio was recently visited by a representative from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Port Moresby.
He said he was informed by the Foreign Affairs liaison officer in Vanimo the UNHCR representative had made arrangements with the bishop of Vanimo for the three to be transferred to the care of the bishop.
Mr Moplou said the illegals were supposed to be taken out of his care last Tuesday but this has not happened yet.
