Chinese fined K1,800 for stolen goods

A VISA agent from China was fined K1,800 for being in possession of stolen goods and pornographic items by a Port Moresby court last week.
Wang Yahong of Beijing pleaded guilty to three charges last week – possessing two pornographic discs, a stolen Easipay meter, belonging to PNG Power, and a stolen Hewlett Packard printer belonging to the Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF)
Police detained the 50-year-old woman in April after receiving information that she was allegedly involved in forging immigration documents and dealing in stolen goods.
It was alleged that she was involved in bringing unskilled workers into the country.
Apart from the pornographic discs and stolen items, police also seized passports, rubber stamps and travel documents.
Meanwhile, another Chinese national was found guilty of having a rifle, several rounds of ammunition and a crossbow by the Boroko District Court in Port Moresby last week.
Senior magistrate Danny Wakikura adjourn sentencing to next month.
James Wang Weiping, 37, from the Fujian province, China, had in his possession a .22 rifle, 35 rounds of ammunition for the rifle, 29 rounds of shotgun cartridges, two crossbows and 310 arrows.
The items were found in a container when police raided his trade store at Konedobu on Jan 15.
Wang was charged under Section 65 (a) and S27 (1) (b) of the Firearms Act, and S12 (1) (b) of the Summary Offences Act.
