Dockers record comeback victory

THERE is nothing like traditional rivalry in any sporting codes and the AFL Port Moresby competition was no different.
In the main game on Saturday at Colts ground, KDC Dockers came from behind to beat Wests by one point 42-41.
The game started on a very fast ace with West trying to maintain their top spot on the ladder and the once mighty Dockers determined to peg West back.
Dockers could only manage two points in the first quarter where as West had sixteen points, thanks to their fast attacking football.
The Dockers boys turned on their usual style of football in the second quarter kicking four goals with Sandy Rava, Annaga Isaac and skipper Bruce Sowara leading the way.
The third quarter was a much more even with West trio of Boas Keu, Nick Apamumu and Alphonse Gela leading their young charges and would have kicked more goals if not for the injury centre half forward and goal kicking ace Sylvester Mangaea.
The fourth quarter was an even quarter with both teams playing good defensive football to restrict each other, although Dockers had more scoring opportunities but they failed to convert their opportunities running out close winners 42 points to 41 points.
The earlier game saw competition leaders Moresby Crows run over the youthful Gordons Kokofas.
AFL Port Moresby Interim Chairman Dominic Kaumu has asked all players and management named in the train on squad for the national championship to meet at Colts Oval tomorrow at 5pm.
