NI still waiting for poll gear to be delivered

ELECTORAL Commission staff caused a shipping company to offload two containers of election materials for New Ireland in Manus recently.
The commission's office in Manus confirmed the mistake and said that the containers had been repacked and would be sent to Kavieng by boat later.
It said that they were waiting for funds from head office.
New Ireland elections manager Edward Konu said they would not be able to conduct the election without the materials, which included polling cubicles, plastic seals and labels, stationary and T-shirts.
He recalled the previous election whereby polling was held two days late because the materials were delayed.
