Teachers warned: No work, no pay

By ALISON ANIS
TEACHERS leaving their teaching posts or walking away from duties, when they should be at school, would be ‘immediately’ suspended from the payroll.
Chairman of Teaching Service Commission (TSC) Michael Pearson issued the terse warning yesterday after receiving multiple complaints from parents and the public of teachers leaving their posts early or not turning up for classes when expected.
Mr Pearson has called on parents including schools boards of management to see and report teachers, who were doing this by name to the provincial education adviser (PEA) or directly to the TSC, who would deal with them.
He said teachers who were not in classrooms teaching were breaching section 25 of the TSC Act.
