Church mourns Hoivo

Members of the Renewal Church of Papua New Guinea are mourning the loss of their founder and Oro Governor Bani Hoivo.
According to a Renewal Church pastor, the late Mr Hoivo was well-respected for his church work and members were saddened at his death.
The pastor said when Mr Hoivi announced his intention to take up politics, he transferred his clerical titles and moved on.
Family members gathered at the haus krai (mourning house) are waiting for further information on funeral arrangement from the State.
Mr Hoivo died during his first term in Parliament and is also the first sitting MP from Oro province to die during his term in office.
He was born and raised in Popondetta, completed school at Grade 5, and took an active role in church activity.
He died last Friday at the Port Moresby Private Medical Specialist Centre.
