Enga 'Rambo' slain

By JAMES APA GUMUNO
A fierce warrior known as "Rambo" who was allegedly responsible for the killings of more than 200 people was chopped to death in Wabag, Enga province, according to police.
Okan Kaiam, 21, from Animanda and Lamanda villages was chopped to death by four men from an enemy tribe during a political rally at Lenki village, some few kilometers outside of Wabag town..
Government sources from Wabag told The National that ‘Rambo” was a great warrior and killed many of his enemy tribesmen during a period of fierce tribal fighting.
Okan was nicknamed ‘Rambo’ by his tribesmen and other people in Wabag district because of his phenomenal “success” rate at the battle field. It is said he hardly wastes a bullet when he goes into the battle field to hunt his enemies.
Highlands Divisional Police Commander and Assistant Police Commissioner Simon Kauba confirmed the killing yesterday.
Mr Kauba said police are aware that the deceased was responsible for number of deaths in the district.
He said that the deceased was attending a political rally at Lenki village when four enemy tribesmen pulled him out of the rally and chopped him to death with their axes.
Mr Kauba said that the situation in the area was very tense but quite after security forces deployed for the national election's operation in the province began patrolling the road and villages.
He said police in Wabag are now carrying out an investigation into the killing and are on the hunt for the four alleged killers, whose identities have been made known to police.
