Rugby growing among the young

The Sepik Rugby Union challenge was a winner in its under 19 development games at the weekend.
Passam National High School outgunned Wewak Hill 10-5 win while Water Rats (No.1 Hire Car) showed no mercy to Caltex to win 22-5.
Koran Mondopo, Galan, Samy and their forward pack dominated this game against Caltex to come home with the goodies.
On the other hand though, Brandi High School, Defence Red and Boram Jets were unable to turn up on time for their matches.
However all A grade games were on schedule after the Besta Northern Reds challenge impacted on the clubs with a narrow margin wins recorded firstly with Wewak Hill beating Caltex 13-7, and John Bun’s Boram Jets edging out Water Rats 7-6.
Sepik Rugby’s Emmanuel Kau said he was impressed with improvement in the standard of the games in recent times, and the sponsorship from International Food Corporation (IFC) Ltd, Coca-Cola Amatil Wewak, Tang Mow, East Sepik provincial administration, Help Resource, Provincial AIDS Council, and Wewak MP Kimson Kare for a family sport which is violence-free.
Kau also called for support from PNG Rugby Union for coaching and referee clinics to cater for the Under 16 and 19 teams.
