Apisah and Angat unbeatable in tennis

THE preparation for the women’s lawn tennis team for the Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa is on target.
Coach Kwalam Apisah said these following some good results obtain from the Fiji-based women players Marcia Apisah and Nicole Angat from Suva Open last weekend.
Marcia won all her games in the U/16 Single, U/16 Doubles with Amanda Korinihona and the Women’s Social Singles.
She was seeded number on her age group in Singles and she had a bye in the quarter finals.
Marcia went through the finals undefeated by beating Jessie Daulaca of Fiji 6/0, 6/0 to advanced into grand final to beat their double partner, Korinihona of Solomon Islands 6/4, 4/6 and 6/1.
In the social singles, Marcia was up against Setapu Resture of Tuvalu winning 6/0, 6/0 in the quarter finals and in the semi finals she defeated Shalin Chetty with the same scoreline.
Angat took part in open women singles, open women double and open mixed events and won in all divisions.
In open singles, Angat beat Lin Mellsop of New Zealand 6/0, 6/1, and she edged out Marie Liwuslili of Vanuatu in the semi finals 7/5, 6/4 and in the finals, Zinnia Leamana of Solomon Islands.
In the women open double, Zinnia Leamana of the Solomon Islands partnered Angat to beat Tara Kanenbogi and Ikinesi Fa of Fiji 6/0,6/2 and advanced to finals to meet Marie Liwuslili of Vanuatu and Mugdha Nandan of Fiji 6/0, 6/2
In the mixed double, Angat combined with Lorenzo Pineda of Vanuatu to beat Jessie Daulaca Rafiq Naidu of Fiji 6/0,6/1 and in the semi finals, they beat Finau Fa/Ikinesi Fa, also of Fiji 6/3,6/1 and the grand final, the continued their good form to beat Marie Liwuslili of Vanuatu and Simon Zoing of Fiji 6/3,6/1.
