Polye in court today over ‘nomination’ row

DEPUTY Prime Minister Don Polye is expected to appear in the National Court in Waigani today to testify against claims that he did not nominate for the Kandep Open seat.
Candidate Peter Mision Yaki wants the court to overturn the Electoral Commission’s decision to accept Mr Polye’s nomination and for the latter’s name to be struck off the ballot papers.
He was claiming that Mr Polye did not personally nominate as required under the Organic Law when nominations closed on May 10.
His counsel, Philip Ame, claimed that some other candidates had provided affidavits.
