Five Indon anglers fined

FIVE Indonesians were fined between K4,000 and K20,000 for fishing in PNG waters without a valid licence, by a District Court in Waigani yesterday.
They committed the offence off Daru in Western province early this month.
The K20,000 fine was imposed on the skipper of the boat.
National Fisheries Authority legal officer Anlus Iwais said yesterday that they would be detained at Bomana until the fines were paid.
He said the Indonesian embassy was trying to contact the families to raise the money.
Four other Indonesians, including a woman, and one Papua New Guinean denied the charge.
Their application for bail pending trial was denied.
