New vehicle for Hagen City Hall
AFTER many
years of operating without a vehicle, the Mt Hagen City Authority
councillors this week received a brand new Mazda Bravo.
Hagen MP and Environment and Conservation Minister William Duma bought
the vehicle for them from his electoral funds.
Mr Duma presented the vehicle to the city’s lord mayor Lukas Mek and
councillors at a small ceremony at Kimininga Hotel last Monday.
Mr Duma said the councillors had approached his office for the vehicle
some time ago and the Mt Hagen joint district budget priority and
planning committee of which he is the chairman, decided to set aside
K84,840 to purchase the vehicle for the councillors to assist them in
their work.
Apart from the vehicle, Mr Mek also thanked Mr Duma for contributing
enormously to the development of Mt Hagen including his role in the K3.5
million city road rehabilitation project, a new vehicle for the city
police, K40,000 city beautification programme, upgrading of city lights
and fencing of Kaiwe market.
Celebrations deferred
THE
Paiambit hausboi’s (spirit house) 40th anniversary celebration slated
for July 3 has been deferred to next year to allow polling to run
smoothly in the Middle Sepik area.
Paliambe village chief Aron Yambu and village pastor Aaron Dumoi told
The National in Wewak that the event was originally planned for July 3
but had been deferred to July next year because of the elections.
