Elections begin in S. H’lands tomorrow

By ANDREW ALPHONSE
VOTING for the country’s 8th National Parliament begins in the Southern Highlands tomorrow.
Despite fears that over 30,000 Seventh Day Adventist church followers may not be able to cast their votes as it is their worship day, provincial elections manager David Wakias says the one-day polling will go ahead as planned tomorrow.
“I am sorry, but the SDAs would have to choose whether to vote or go to church,” he said.
“There would not be another day extended to cater for the SDAs.”
Souther Highlands Governor Hami Yawari has warned of legal action against the Electoral Commission should there be no extended polling to cater for SDAs and others.
