Fast, pray for good leaders: Garima

By JAMES APA GUMUNO
A CHURCH leader in Western Highlands has called on the people to fast and pray constantly in the next few weeks for good leaders to be elected into Parliament.
Nicholas Garima said no big changes had taken place since independence.
“We blame our leaders but we as irresponsible voters must also bear some of the blame,” he said.
“The system of bribery and corruption is deeply rooted in our society so much so that we have become a laughing stock in the eyes of foreigners.”
He said the media would have stories of corruption involving MPs, top bureaucrats down to lowly-paid public servants every day.

ENB government supports PV training
EAST New Britain provincial government is giving full support to Personal Viability training as one of the important tool to human development.
Governor Leo Dion, during the launching and opening of the first pilot Personal Viability (PV) Home School last Saturday, told the people that ENB was on the cross-roads in its endeavours for an improved living standard for its people.
He said the province had been allocating K50,000 every year since 2004 to the programme to train trainers and managers at the Grassroots University in Kairuru, East Sepik province.
This year again, the provincial government approved the creation and establishment of the ENB Melanesia Entrepreneurial Lifestyle Authority as the instrument necessary for the development of the people and the economy with a budget allocation of K1 million for five years.
