Elections Priority

The Port Moresby Rugby league domestic competition will be postponed next week for officials, players and supporters to cast day votes for the general elections.
POM Rugby League chairman Solomon Ravu confirmed this and assured that this was planned for and it wont affect the domestic competitions as players, match officials, security guards and the supporters will exercise their right to vote on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th July 2007 for the general elections.
Mr. Ravu said that the delayed matches will be slotted on the later during the week but said the round twelve clash of the SP Cup match between the city franchise Brain Bell Bulldogs and highlands franchise Bintangor Lahanis would still go ahead as scheduled.
He said that the SP Cup game between Bulldogs and Lahanis that will be played on Sunday will not be affected as voting will happen only on Friday and Saturday as scheduled and endorsed by the Electoral Commission for Moresby North-East Open, Moresby North-West Open and Moresby South Open electorates.
“We cancelled every game to give ample time to everyone involved with the game, as it is their constitutional right to vote in the general elections,’ said Mr. Ravu.
The cancellation of the POM rugby league includes; a grade games, reserve grade and juniors as well as school boys rugby league matches for this weekend.
