Security of Oro ballots taken up

By SHEILA LASIBORI
POLICE and election officials in Oro province met with some candidates yesterday regarding the security of ballot boxes where polling is over.
The candidates raised concerns that security of the completed ballot boxes being kept at the Popondetta police station was not being guaranteed.
The boxes had been kept while waiting for the completion of polling and return of the boxes and officials from remote areas, where polling had been delayed due to bad weather and logistics problems.
Provincial police commander Chief Inspector Buafe Hugo assured them that the ballot boxes had been kept safe and that security was not a concern because the boxes were under the watchful eyes of police officers.
Counting is expected to start tomorrow at the Popondetta Secondary School hall.

Yesterday, the last of the polling teams from Tufi, Kira, Safia areas and other remote areas were flown into Popondetta.
