HKL supports community

MORE than K18,000 worth of radio equipment was donated to the Kainantu police station by the Highlands Kainantu Limited (HKL) project office last Friday.
The equipment included four hand held radios, a base radio, antennas and accessories.
Minerals Resources Authority programme manager Ron Gawi said the presentation was part of HKL’s commitment to support community policing in Kainantu.
Mr Gawi urged police in Kainantu to look after the equipment and make good use of it for the benefit of the people.
Kainantu police station commander Insp John Haua thanked HKL for its generous donation.
Mr Haua said police in Kainantu had been without reliable radio communication for some time, therefore, the equipment would definitely enhance police communication and mobility in the community.
HKL had been given logistical support since they started operations some three years back.
