Finals race on
Three secure top spots in SP Cup comp..

City franchise Brian Bell Bulldogs defeated gallant Toyota Mioks 22-18 at the Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby, Agmark Gurias ousted Kunjin Eagles at the Showground in Kagamuga 22-8 and defending champions Mabey & Johnson Muruks dismissed Bintagor Lahanis 26-4 in Lae to ensure their ticket to finals play-offs, while Bombers deflated Wari Vele Raiders 20-10 also in Lae to keep their finals hopes alive.
In Port Moresby, in a must win match by both teams Toyota Mioks hearts were sunk when Brian Bell Bulldogs inside centre Larson Marabe scored twice in a space of three minutes when the Engans had only six minutes to protect 18-14 advantage for an upset win.
Man of the match Marabe, who was brutal in defence and fired in attack, earned the Bulldogs finals berth and to climb to equal second spot to join Muruks, when he crossed over in the 74th minute to equalise the points 18-18 and then shrugged off two Mioks players to score the match winner on the full-time siren.

Bulldogs lead at the half-time break 10-8 with tries to forward Simon Tonge (10th minute) when just brushed past his opponents to score under the post and Benjamin Johnís (20th minute) from his clever dummy half move confusing the Mioks defence to score adjacent to the post in first of his double, however, Mioks hit back through back rower Danny David (15th minute) benefiting from a good team effort.
Mioks look dangerous with the wind behind their back and registered first pints of the second-half when center James Kungil carried two opponents over the line to lead 12-10, but that was short lived as Benjamin John dived over for his second in the corner to regain lead 16-14 with strong win making all conversion attempts a nightmare for both teams.
However the Mioks reserve forward Roy Anthony try and a penalty goal from hooker Nathan Anjo nearly helped secured the win when they lead 18-14 but Marabe double in the dying minutes help the Dogs earn two points to secure a finals berths to finish 22-18.
After round 16 Gurias 22, Muruks 21, Bulldogs 21, Lahanis 18, Bombers 17, Raiders, 16, Mioks 12, Eagles 11, Warriors 9.
