Good news from Sinivit

THE announcement for the first gold bar poured at the Sinivit mine recently was welcome news for the mining community and the country.
Sinivit started production early this year and is a small to medium-scale open-cut operation located in the Baining Mountains of the Gazelle Peninsula, East New Britain province.
New Guinea Gold Corporation (NGG), with Bob McNeil as chief executive, has been working tirelessly to bring the Sinivit project (formerly Wild Dog) to production and this year has seen the outcome of that effort.
NGG has reported that all aspects of the mining and processing circuit at the Sinivit mine had now been commissioned.
Sinivit is one of the four mines that had been given all the necessary approvals to go through pre-feasibility, feasibility, construction and finally production, in the last two to three years.
The other three on track are the Simberi gold project in New Ireland province (North West of Lihir mine), the Hidden Valley gold project in the Morobe province, and the Ramu nickel/cobalt project in Madang province.
Ramu production will significantly expand the country’s mineral commodity base as it will add nickel and cobalt exports to the traditional copper, gold and silver.
