NA’s Rambi deposes PDM man Kingal

THE National Alliance party continued its strong performance in the Highlands with Sani Rambi deposing People’s Democratic Movement’s Kuri Kingal for the Mul/Baiyer seat.
Mr Rambi was proclaimed winner by the returning officer Max Tiri around 3:30pm yesterday at the counting centre.
Mr Rambi, the owner of the Mountain Hire Car based in Mount Hagen, polled 14,427 votes to hold off Sai Trappe, a People’s Party candidate who polled 13,505. Sitting Member Kingal polled 10,739 to finish third.
In the Jimi Open, Waka Goi, an independent candidate, polled 8085 votes to win the seat.
The runner-up is Francis Du Guan, who collected 5,858, while sitting member Francis Kunai finished third with 5,170.
