THE National Alliance Party and its coalition partners will be camping in Kokopo to consolidate its numbers to form the new government.
The National Alliance stocks increased to 26 following the election victory of Kikori MP Mark Maipakai, who retained his seat yesterday.
NA members have started travelling to Kokopo over the weekend and yesterday.
Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare will be leaving today.
The party is confident it had already secured the support of the required 55 MPs from its understanding with several parties leading into the elections and Independents.
National Alliance would be camping out with coalition partners People’s Action Party (5), Melanesian Liberal Party (2), United Party (2), People First Party (1) and more than 10 Independents.
Although NA had an understanding with Pangu and People’s National Congress leading into the elections, the two parties have not made their stand public, but are believed to be keeping an open line with all parties.
The PNC (5), Pangu (5) and Rural Development (3) have been mentioned by NA as its ally but that cannot be confirmed with the respective groups.
Pangu is believed to be sorting out their leadership issue after the loss of Sir Rabbie Namaliu and would make their position clear over the next few days.
