THE Papua New Guinea Volleyball Federation is mindful on how it utilises the K80,000 sponsorship from Telikom PNG, says vice-president Bernard Alu.
Alu said this yesterday when commenting on statements that PNGVF two other respective teams, Beach Volleyball and the Development Team, have missed out on their share from the sponsorship.
Alu said the Beach Volleyball comes under the jurisdiction of PNGVF, and the sponsorship from Telikom is a big bonus to the Federation only to be bailed out in the 11th hour from their levy payments.
The vice-president said respective teams – Indoor, Beach and Development squad were asked to prepare submission for a PNGVF blanket submission for funding, and only indoor provided their costing and thereís were submitted.
He said however, the national body is mindful of the other two disciplines in which will deal and support them.
Alu said like other sporting code, PNGVF is mindful and will be accountable to the sponsorship funds used and will have to acquit accordingly of their spending.
He said how PNGVF will use the funds was important and it would have to make good administrative and wise decisions to use the funds meaningfully to its purpose ... “we will not jump the gun and use it unwisely.”
The vice-president said he was aware of beach volleyball which really need extra fund to travel for the camp in Brisbane before flying to Apia, Samoa for the Games.
Currently, stand-in coach Christine Griffin is desperately looking for funds to send the team after PNG Volleyball Federation turned down their request for financial support for Brisbane trip.
Alu said if Griffin has any matters or request from PNGVF, she or any other person must follow procedures and the matter must be resolved internally.
