Two injured, 27 houses razed in Mul


AT least 27 houses were burnt down and two people seriously injured in the Mul district, Western Highlands province.
Mul district office was badly damaged and the road linking to Mul from Baiyer junction was dug up by villagers using iron bars, spades and other digging tools on Tuesday morning, creating a wide ditch across the road after the proclamation of independent candidate Tom Olga as the winner for the Western Highlands Regional seat.
According to rural police from Mul district on Tuesday night in Mount Hagen, some supporters of the losing candidates attacked the supporters of Mr Olga and chased them away.
A policeman said the attack on the supporters of Mr Olga was unexpected.
Police sources, who wre based in the area, said that two supporters of Mr Olga were seriously injured and taken to one of the hospitals in the province.
Police said that more than 100 family members lost their properties.
