PNC leader O’Neill signs deal with NA

THE People’s National Congress was the first party from outside the coalition to be invited to join the current coalition partners and handed over their party resolution to back Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare to be the nominee for the top post.
People’s Democratic Movement also signed a similar memorandum of agreement (MoA) and handed over a party resolution to back the Chief.
PNC leader Peter O’Neill and National Alliance leader Sir Michael signed the MoA at Vunapope Catholic conference centre on Tuesday night.
PNC and its members also signed the party resolution that committed the party to vote in support of NA and its coalition partners for the Speaker and Prime Minister Sir Michael when Parliament resumes next Monday.
The PNC members that signed the resolution included Mr O’Neill, Gulf Regional MP Havila Kavo, Manus Open MP Job Pomat, Sohe MP Anthony Nene, North Fly MP Boka Kondra and Sumkar MP Ken Fairweather.
Other expected to sign an MoA with NA included Peter Ipatas of People’s Party and Rural Development Party led by Esa’ala MP Moses Maladina.
