Momase championships deferred
By SAMPSON BONAI
MOMASE regional soccer club
championships planned for Madang next week have been deferred
until all the associations pay up their players registration fee
of K2.
PNGFA general secretary Dimrit Mileng confirmed yesterday that the
Aug 15-19 championships have been postponed indefinitely, pending
outstanding payment of the K2 fee from all participating
associations.
Mileng said that a total of 52 clubs – both men and women - from
Momase region that are affiliated to the mother body will be
affected because nearly all of them have not complied with the
registration fee requirements to take part in the championships.
Only four associations - Madang, Wau, Vanimo Urban and Bogia -
have meet all the requirements to participate in the competition,
Mileng said, adding that the others had not made any attempt to
pay up this year despite the fact that they were party to a
resolution at the PNGFA Congress early this year agreeing to pay
K2 fees to the mother body.
Mileng said the requirements must be met before any PNGFA-sanctioned
championships proceed.
He said that a circular will be send out to all the affiliated
associations today to remind them about the postponement of the
championships to a later date to give them ample time to pay up.
“We had to draw the line here for the good of all the associations
and PNGFA as the regulatory body to ensure that we have up-to-date
data on the total number of registered soccer players in PNG.”
Mileng can be reached on telephone number 4751398 for further
information regarding the player registration fees.”
