Authorities urged to let NGOs fight for good governance

THE national president and founder of the Millennium Good Governance Organisation Peter Kerengagugl has called on authorities to let non-governmental organisations (NGOs) campaign for good governance and anything else that is in the best interest of the people.
Mr Kerengagugl was referring to reports in the media of three leaders of NGO groups who were arrested on Wednesday for campaigning against the formation of the new government.
He said these leaders had the right to freedom of speech and movement and there was no need for police to arrest them.
He explained that the campaign was not against the National Alliance party or the opposing parties but for a change in the leadership other than Sir Michael Somare, Sir Mekere Morauta or Sir Julius Chan as they wanted a young leader to lead the country.
